Website Design For Lawyers – Why Determining Your Launch Style Will Affect Your Website Design
Every company that launches their websites have many different things to consider. This is especially true for lawyers. As a lawyer, first impressions are incredibly important to your clients. This means that you cannot afford to launch an unsuccessful website and risk losing hundreds of potential clients. Keeping this in mind, you need to understand that launching a website can take time.
The most important decision that you have to make is what and when to launch your website. There are four standard options that are available to you and each will determine how you will be designing your website.
1. Coming Soon Pages –
In the online world, this is also referred to as a splash page. This is a simple one page site in which you discuss what you have upcoming. This could be current and future cases as well as previous victories that provide clients with information about you and your successes. This type of website does not traditional work well for the legal community. It is simply to difficult to pass on important information to clients as well as receive important information.
2. Soft Launch Designs –
This works well if you are looking for feedback before the site becomes public. Tell the people that you would like feedback from (current clients) where to locate your page. Then after a few days or even a week, contact them and ask them what they think about your new site. This will allow you to design your site slowly and build upon suggestions given to you by your community of clients. If you are using this approach make sure that you site is designed in a way that allows you to continually modify and improve it easily. Otherwise either you or your programmer will be spending much more time than is needed, updating your site. It doesn’t matter who is doing the programming, it will cost you in the end.
3. Beta Launch Designs –
This is a soft launch of sorts. It allows your site to be open to the general public so that they access the information that they need, while simultaneously notifying the viewers that the site is a work in progress. These types of sites often are a part of a social network of some kind, even one that you create yourself. This type of launch might be left for a social site that is intended to work along with your dominant site as opposed to using it for your main site, itself. These have been used by several law firms, but have not taken hold as a standard practice.
4. Hard Launch Designs –
This is what is used most commonly by most lawyers and law firms. It is like the grand opening of a store. Everything is setup and ready to go. It should have everything that your viewers will need without any important additions.
Keep in mind that the content on your site is going to be more important than anything else. This being true, you need to seriously consider how you are planning on launching your site as it will directly affect how you need your site to be designed.
