Web Design Quick Tip: Page Load Time

Web design professionals have been trained to know what works in the world of web design. A good web design is more than aesthetics, sometimes a fast loading webpage is more important than any fancy gadgets you have in your design.

When you are designing your website, you have to keep in mind that not every site visitor will have high-speed internet. Many internet users still rely on dial up for their internet connection and others have connection speeds only a little bit faster than that. A slow loading website is more likely to be skipped over more often. This means you are more likely to lose site visitors because of long load times.

When you are doing web design, you need to know all of the rules of web design and research what works and what does not. Keeping the kilobytes per page low will help the page load faster. A good web design rule of thumb is that any page of your site should not take longer than 15 seconds to load.
If a site page takes longer than 15 seconds to load; you can naturally assume that your site visitor is going to exit out of your page. The visitor is more likely to move on to another page in the search results that do not take long to load.

Some web design tips to help minimize the kilobytes per page are to reduce animated gifs, make images optimized for the web, reduce the use of images overall by using only necessary images if possible, background images are better used in place of large images, use CSS styles, web design with mostly HTML will also help decrease load time as well.

The quicker your site pages load the more likely your site visitor will click through your site and the more enjoyable the experience will be for them. Happy customers usually spend more money.
