Before a designer calculates the downloading speed of the site’s web pages, he needs to consider first some factors that affect the loading speed of a certain website. Some of these factors are:

• Individual Internet Connection. Designers must bear in mind that the connections of every user to the web vary. Some still uses old modems that have slower speed while others have broadband connections which are usually faster.

• RAM, disk and CPU speed. The capacity of your computer also affects the loading speed of every website you open

• Server Speed. This factor, as well as the route travelled to the ISP and its performance is also important.  

So before working on the weight of a web page, the web designer should bear in mind that what’s important is for the page to load reasonably faster in any connection, server, and CPU used by the Internet visitor.

A professional web designer uses light images with high resolution in correct format. Photographs must be in jpg and banners should be in gif mode. The weight of the image to be used should not exceed 30 kilo bytes but the ideal image weight is around 15 kilo bytes. And since formatting is also of great importance, it is more advisable to employ external css and server side scripts.
