Web Design Things about Graphics You Should Remember
Graphics make or break a website or a webpage. If you use tacky graphics, your website or webpage will just look cheap and unprofessional. In web design, you need to be aware of all the elements you are including in a page or site and try to make them compliment on another. This cohesion is especially important when you are trying to balance your graphics with your fonts.
The pictures or graphics that you include should not be more than 12KB per image. Although sources are vastly improving and more people have a lot more Internet speed now, you should still have graphics that load easily. Another good thing about smaller images is that they are easy to place within a page. It will also not come off as too intrusive or off-putting for the reader.
You have to remember that graphics or photos are supposed to compliment a text or content. Pictures in a page give a reader or visitor the initial idea of what the page or text is about. With this in mind, try to keep the size of the photo and the text in cohesion. On the same note, use images that are related to the text or content as much as possible. You can also include images that are related to the website or web page’s theme to keep everything, from design to concept, flowing.
Try not to give your audience or readers an aneurysm with blinking features. Do not include flashy, rotating, or moving items in your page. They only make the design look amateur and not to mention, cheap. The way to go is to keep things still and fixed. Most part of the page or site should be stationary. Things that move or flash in the webpage are not only distracting, they are also very annoying. If you cannot avoid these, use effects sparingly. Try to incorporate them in such a way that they do not annoy the reader or visitor into leaving your site and never visiting it again.
Graphics, when used the right way, can make give the reader or visitor an idea of what the page or site is about in a matter of seconds. In the same manner, bad graphics and bad web design can make them decide not to come back to the site ever.
