A web designer can most definitely do without some of the web design features. It is practically just an addition, but a website can still do well without it. The following features are as follows:

1. Sound/Music
We all know that this web design feature is not that bad at all; most especially if it is incorporated in a way that an option is installed to turn down or mute the volume is provided. This type of web design feature as we all know, makes loading slow most especially to viewers who have low bandwidth. If you give your viewer the option to shut off or turn down its volume, you will not end up annoying them. It is also a good idea to just include short clips of sound or music, and not add a whole clip. Nobody would want to listen to the same thing repeatedly. In addition, this distracts your viewers away from what matters the most, your content. Well, not unless if your website is all about music and selling music. This is necessary then, but if it is something like a business or professional website, then your website can live without it.

2. Flash Animation
Again, we have nothing against having heavy flash animation. But the thing is, if you tend to overcrowd or clutter your web design with such, you will tend to lose your viewers interest in a “Flash”. You can incorporate some to your web designs; just make sure that you do so minimally. Having a lot these will definitely affect your viewers loading time. Most internet users are not accustomed to waiting for several minutes just for a website to load up. This is a factor that truly annoys a viewer. But if your site is all about gaming or other related flash based dependent sites, then you can apply it as much as you like.

3. Pop-ups
This is one feature that makes everybody hit that tiny “X” button in a hurry. All of our browsers are equipped with pop-up blockers, because we could care less about those types of annoying advertisements. Why not just allot a space in your website for your advertisements as opposed to using annoying pop-ups. Your website can sell things and can stand alone without this web design feature.

There you go, some helpful tips that you can go ponder on. Remember, your goal is to attract more visitors’ and not the other way around. The more you avoid these truly annoying features, that more that you will be successful online.
