Is Your Web Design Creating Search Engine Friendly Pages

Why waste your time with web design and building your site if you can’t get the traffic to visit your site? For most websites the search engine giants like Google, MSN, or Yahoo to name just a couple, are who control just how and where web traffic flows. The question is – is your web design creating search engine friendly pages that the search engines will eat up.

Robots and crawlers are used by the big search engines, to index websites to list on the search engine results pages. The “bots” follow links on the pages, read the contents at those pages, record it to the search engine database, and then bring it forward when a query is conducted and your site fits the search.

Avoid frames whenever possible in your web design, because they will confuse the search engine robots. When these robots get confused they simply leave the site moving on to the next one, so keep the robots happy. By the way frames are also a pain for your visitors, often making it difficult to bookmark the page.

While you might be tempted to use Flash to provide important information, don’t. Remember the search engines can only read text, and if you use Flash movies rather than your ranking getting better, it will like drop significantly.

Remember to use meta tags on every page so that the search engines can quickly find out what it is they need to know, and whether they should bother to index it. Meta tags are a powerful tool. When you use them the search engines can crawl and index your site a lot faster.

If you are using HTML tags make sure they are correct. It’s a common mistake to use the wrong tags. Use a CSS instead because not only are they efficient they are very effective at what they do and you no longer will have to spend your days playing with HTML.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like to style your page. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and faster to load.

There you have it in a nutshell. Now you know how to create search engine friendly pages in your web design.
