In Web Design, Color Gets it Done!

In effective web design, the key to color is understanding the application and the user’s browser response characteristics.  Color adds appeal, emphasis and quality to the web design.  Color can make text easier to read, can differentiate pages, illuminate borders, stage seductive backgrounds and enhance just about every web design.

With all those capabilities, it is puzzling why so many web designs fail to use color to their advantage.  Perhaps designers do not understand the power of color.  Unfortunately, many technological geniuses do not understand the correlation between colors.  The result is often a web design that appears uncoordinated and out of sync.

Making the right color choices can bring your web design together and infuse loads of vitality into that web design.  Basically there are four ways of adding color to pages in web design.

The easiest of these four possibilities is to select named colors, like colors of the rainbow.  Unfortunately some browsers do not provide color names.  Other browsers do not always depict the color name that was called for in the web design.

A second means to add color is to use hexadecimal codes.  Hexadecimal codes are based upon three numbers.  Through various code selections the web design can be enhanced by the selection.

Adding color to the web design through CSS is easy.  The <style> entry enables a series of choices that allow colors to be assigned to the web design.

Adding color to the background of a table or to an entire page brings the information to life.  Background colors should not be distracting and should only be used to distinctly highlight the information.

CSS web design formatting for font color and background colors are easy to access and will retain color selection preferences regardless of the user’s browser selection.  Audiences like color in web design so use it to welcome them to your next site.
