Many professionals and novice who do web design are usually excellent in putting things together like graphics, html script, web content text, and color combinations.  However, most also overlook that user’s experience is the most important priority in web design.

In web design, you have to see to it that your readers and users will have a very pleasant experience in using your website, avoiding putting them into a cumbersome situation when trying to do even the most simple tasks in your site.  This rule of thumb is so much applicable to any type of web site like a shopping cart, product promotion site, or plainly a text site.

For any web design to be effective, navigation must be the first priority.  This can be possible by keeping things simple, and doable in very few steps.  Always be straightforward in designing the navigation of your pages.

Never overdo placement of advertisements on your pages, as these are not only annoying, it risks your visitors clicking away from your site, which can rob you off of possible revenues, like converting that visit to a sale, once they click away.  This is also true in text sites, as your readers will be veered away from the contents of your site if they are too distracted with many advertisements, like in forms of plug-ins or pop-up windows.

In creating links during web design, you need to put emphasis on such links by making these stand out from the rest of the text contents of the website.  This will help your users and readers from confusion through the use of contrasting colors or by underlining such links.  By doing this, you are giving your readers and users an idea that if they click such link, they will be on another page.

Remember that any broken link on your site could also be annoying and might just take away your users’ interest with your site’s contents.  It is best that you check this from time to time, or give incentives to your users to report such broken links the easiest way.
