Web Design 101: About HTML
If you are planning on building a career as a website designer, there are a lot of things that you need to learn. Web designing is not only about designing; remember, the name says “web designing”, so you must consider the web aspect of designing.
If you are just a beginner, the thing you need to study about is the formatting. There are essentially four ways to create a web page: by using HTML or XHTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript. Let us talk about HTML.
You may have heard about HTML several times. It is an acronym for the phrase HyperText Mark-up Language. When initializing any type of program using the internet, a language is a basic necessity. The same goes for creating a web site because web sites are application programmed remotely.
It is specially created for creating web pages. One can create the entire webpage – including the title, the text or content paragraphs, the links, the background and others. You can also use HTML to embed pictures, patterns, images and other objects.
When HTML was first launched and used, it had only 22 elements that can be used. Currently, it is comprised of much more codes. Only 13 of the original element codes are maintained.
The codes used in HTML are usually within angle brackets. This is to differentiate the code from what the code should apply to. For example, to make a title, you would write it as such:
<title>MY TITLE</title>
Codes are typically in forms of words so that each codes purpose can be easily understood. You see the code title really refers to the title of the page. However, not all codes are in words, so it would be better to get a complete list of the codes if you want to study them. There are standard codes; hence you cannot go and use any word and hope that it works the way you want them to. Each code refers to a different attribute, function or characteristics.
This is just a brief overview. If you really want to learn about being a web designer, you can enroll in a short course. Or if you are a fast learner, you can check online HTML tutorials for free.
