Creating an eye-catching website with all the bells and whistles can help market your business, however if visitors find it difficult to access, navigate, or comprehend information on your site then it surely defeats all marketing purpose.  Below are a few ideas on how you can improve some of the features of your site to make it easier for visitors to access and use.

Navigational Menu:  The navigational menu is the single most important feature associated with a website.  If a visitor cannot manage the navigational menu then he/she will not be able to view your business services and other important information.  It is recommended that you keep your navigational menu simple.  The navigation should be placed either at the top or to the left of your website.  Why you may ask?  It makes sense because people typically read from top to bottom and left to right. Users just simply don’t want to spend time searching for the navigational menu regardless of how flashy it looks.

Load Time:  If visitors find there selves waiting for a site to load then they will probably give up and go to the next website.   For most internet users, anything longer than 15 seconds and they will have left the site.  Make sure that your site loads quickly if you want to keep visitors.  Be sure to test your website once it’s complete.  If you find that your website does not load quickly then refer to your web developer for a resolution.

Website Content:  Experts in the marketing field have a little saying when it comes too developing a website:  “Less” is “More” Keep your message simple and straight forward.  Visitors do not want to read an encyclopedia full of information.  They want the essentials such as the following:  (Company History, Services Provided Guarantees, Testimonials, Contact Information)

Visuals:  A picture is truly worth thousand words.  Use pictures, photos, graphs, charts, etc. where possible.

In conclusion these are just some important factors to think about when designing a website.  A company sometimes only gets one shot to make a first impression.  If visitors get frustrated because they can not access, navigate, or comprehend information on your site then your website maybe a waste of marketing dollars.
