Popular Design Software Challenge for Tomorrow’s Web Design- Part 3:

In this article I do continue to discuss about how one can use the dreamweaver CS3 for his work in web design. At this point in time I do hope my article is helping somebody figure out something for his future projects. If not, please one should look keenly or be patient and take a tour with me as I discuss this topic further in this article and more articles to come.

Having said that, I think that Dreamweaver CS3 is a very great program in a professional sense. If I was not limited by this particular project to only the WYSIWYG mode and could use the code editor, I can actually see Dreamweaver being very useful to those that like professional applications for this kind of thing. (I do still personally prefer the text editor as well as a local version of PHP/MySQL/Apache). Although, it is a bit overly-technical; the wording for a few of the options and the styling methods they use could be more streamlined and intuitive.

All in all, although, the end result was actually pleasing and it did come close to the original design. Unfortunately I can not say that Dreamweaver CS3 is a tool to easily and quickly build a site if one has little knowledge of CSS.

Dreamweaver CS3 advantages:

• One can do some very advanced things with the visual editor if he knows the CSS

• Adding the basic CSS properties to divs using a CSS button is very fast on creation

• Drawing a layout using AP divs is a very good quick start

Dreamweaver CS3 disadvantages:

• Not newbie friendly

• Very minimal styling can be done without having the knowledge of CSS

• Managing ones styles as well as divs can be a pain once one has already created them

• Many features as well as tools are in illogical places, they do force one to hunt around for them

• One needs to know HTML as well as CSS if he plans to just jump in and then use the program; there are actually tools for beginners
