PC or Mac Platform Issues on Website Design

The age old debate to use Mac or PC for web designing has been running amongst the design community for such a long time. A lot of views had been thrown left and right as to which one is better when it comes to website design. Is there really an argument here?

• PCs are more prone to viruses and malware attacks while Macs are less vulnerable.

• PCs are more widely used and accepted than Mac who has a small percentage in the market.

• PC is highly maintainable than a Mac.

• Mac Networking is easier to use than Windows networking.

• Developing .NET software runs better in PCs.

These are some of the issues surrounding the heat of which is relatively better to use in graphic designs. The thing is, if your work is 100% in the browser, then any computer that appeals to you personally based on your style and prejudices will do. Although, this would be an entirely different case if your development needs to run on IE alone. The platform choice doesn’t dictate one’s ability as a designer although if the perspective is purely aesthetic, many are drawn to Mac because of the high quality of hardware and user-interface design. However, having solid cross-platform skills gives any designer a huge advantage than one whose skill is concentrated to only one. As a tool, it doesn’t matter if one’s clients are on the same OS or not, the final product should never be platform dependent.
