Introduction in Creating HTML Web Pages

Everyone can design webpage; even a beginner like you can create professional looking webpage’s through a simple tool. Webpage’s consist actually of small texts embedded on the page itself. These texts act as instructions on how your page would look like. They tell your web browser how your page would be formatted and how the pictures would display when the page is viewed.

So what is HTML? HTML is a short abbreviation for Hyper Text Mark-up Language. HTML is the simplest and basic form of scripting language. HTML is widely used for beginners who start on designing webpage’s. HTML is taught in schools and also takes part of school curriculums. Unlike Java or Visual Basic which are both programming language, HTML on the other hand is a scripting language. A scripting language and a programming language are different from one another but still have the same function.

Writing an HTML code is like writing a single piece of document. HTML is easy to learn since most of the tags are written in plain English. You don’t need to have powerful software to create web pages all you need is any text editing software and you’re ready to go.

In writing an HTML code you need to follow some rules. Always bear in mind that all HTML tags begin with a greater than sign and ends with a less than sign. All HTML tags begin with a start tag and ends with an end tag. The start tags are tags which doesn’t have any backslash incorporated with it.

One of the most common in building a webpage by far is using HTML tags. What are these tags? These tags actually are small set of instructions telling your browser how the page should look like. For example if I want to have a bold text on single text I would write it as Bold . The same as if I want to italicized a text. I would write it as Italicized <i>. Basically a tag should start with a greater than sign followed by the code you want to insert. Tags would range from title, font, color and body just to name a few. They are easily understood and the tag itself is self explanatory. If I want to insert a title I could just write title inside the tag and that piece of instruction would tell the web browser that the text you added is the title.

In saving an HTML page you need to save it with an .html in its extension for it to be readable in your web browser. The web browser actually is deciphering the code and arranging it according to the set of instructions you have written on it.

Almost anyone can be able to design a webpage. Using HTML is the most sought after for being the most simplest of them all.
