An in-depth look at CSS
CSS, also known as Cascading Style Sheets is a mark up language that is preferred by web developers particularly for development of websites. This is because CSS is usually lighter than other table layouts. In addition, it uses less bandwidth. CSS plays major roles during the web design process. One, it offers a chance to web developers to link documents in web design. In addition, Cascading Style Sheets mark up language offers major control over the elements that are contained in the web pages of various portals and websites. Web developers also use Cascading Style Sheets to define the structure and website content during web design.
CSS is usually used by web developers to control the positioning, font, color and style formation of the website. It is downloaded once and stored up in the cache. This enables relational pages to download at a faster rate. CSS is used together with Hyper Text Mark Up language in order to produce more stable web pages. CSS is also important in web design since it allows web developers to position their elements in various positions in the web pages. CSS makes it easy for web developers to make columns and link them during web design process.
During web design, Cascading Style Sheets is usually combined with XHTML, HTML and internet web browsers. When used with HTML based website applications, CSS makes it possible for web developers to create print friendly website pages. The style sheet language also makes it possible for a web developer to change the layout of the web site without affecting the content of the website. Cascading Style Sheets languages that are stored externally also make it possible for web developers to position the main contents of the website. Adequate positioning of the contents allow them to be easily captured by the available web spiders.
Cascading Style Sheets markup language is important in web design as it produces cleaner HTML codes that reduces the work done by web spiders when searching the real web content from junk code. In addition, the style sheet language enables web developers to make separate style sheets for various kinds of media and allows steadiness to the web pages of developed web sites. Cascading style sheet offers web developers great flexibility while presenting the contents of the web pages. It also allows a web developer the option of redefining the characteristics of various elements in the website to suit the web development needs.
Cascading Style Sheets can be applied to web pages using two main style sheets. One is internal style sheets. The other is external style sheets. Linking Cascading Style Sheets to external style sheets entails using link tags or using external style sheets from other sources. Most of the time web designers are advised to use link tags. This is particularly important as links enable the files to have higher quality of attributes and to also prevent having problems with external formats that have been incorporated in the HTML. However, importing external style sheets is not totally discouraged.
