WEBSITE are created to promote a certain product, company and even individuals in the internet which is being access by billions of people worldwide in a daily basis.

Many websites had already been created to cater to the growing demands of people who are regularly surfing the internet.

Sadly, however, many of the functioning websites today is not accessible or offering the appropriate service it is supposed to provide to the audience especially to the disabled.

Many blinds, hearing impaired and other people with medical condition do not really able to enjoy the benefits offered by websites since these sites to not have the tools and software to make life easy for these people.

Web designers and developers should always bear in mind before designing a website that their site should be accessible to all including people with disabilities.

Aside from disabled, an accessible website is a site that can work better with dial-up connections and hand-held devices such as Blackberries and iPhones and indexed by search engines like Google.

Here are some handy tips to help you create a website that is accessible to the whole world and race.

A.  Text-only and High-Contrast Versions

Websites should have these types of services to the audience so that people with disabilities can fully enjoy the site and access it with ease.

Web designers and developers should always know the target audience of the site so that the website can offer 100 percent service to these people.

Take the case of the blind or those with visual impediment; try to place some screen readers or hardware that converts onscreen text to Braille so that those could not see can still enjoy your site.

You can also place enlarge text onscreen using their browser or screen magnification software.

To those people who have some hearing problems it would be best to utilized closed captioning, sign language, and written transcripts for them to fully enjoy the site.

B. Make your site easy to use

Accessible websites are also defined as sites that can be used with ease by the visitors.

Web designers and developers should do their best to make the site easy to navigate by making sure its structure and flexibility are working superbly.

The site should use semantically correct (X)HTML for structure and content, and CSS for layout. Your (X) HTML content must be logically structured, and elements should be grouped in a coherent fashion.

This is especially important for people who use screen readers, which read page text in order and get confused by bad (X) HTML such as table-based design.

Furthermore, another basic design rule that proves immensely helpful for the disabled but also tends to get lost in the fray is the use of alt tags for images and graphics.

If you want to make your site accessible, incorporate appropriate context for your images in the text surrounding them.

Think of it like an article in a newspaper. The picture or graphic is not thrown in just to take up space — it serves to supplement the story.

In the same vein, you should never, ever try to compensate for weak content with superfluous visual elements.

There is no substitute for clear, well-written content.

Accessibility should be placed on the mindset of web designers and developers to make every visitor of your site happy and contented.
