If you’re “owner building” your website, chances are, your budget is tight. The great news is that there are software packages out there that allow you free downloads, and produce professional looking results! One of the very best is the Nvu open source package, which is what this article will be focusing on.

Once that’s done, it’s simply a matter of opening NVU, naming your site template, and starting to make your changes. It’s a good idea though to save a practice version of your website first, and play around with the tools available in the program. That should give you a good idea of what it’s capable of, and once you’re comfortable with it, you can start on your “real” site.
The beauty of using a template like this, and a html editor like NVU, is that even a novice, with very little web design experience, can have a professional looking site up and ready to publish in the matter of a few hours (if your content is pre prepared, and you’ve done some planning ahead of time!)
