Surfing the World Wide Web has already been a part of the people’s lifestyle. Internet has been a trend over the years and still continues to develop for the benefit of the surfers. Web developers are creating new innovations to improve web surfing features. New enhancements are also added as time goes by. Creation of these developments is typically under the field of web designing.
Web designing deeply involves careful planning, developing, and executing the electronic content through the internet which will then be displayed by a web browser. Web designing is intended for building a website, which is a compilation of electronic files upped on a single or multiple web servers. Web developers have different approaches in web designing with the very basic and the oldest markup language as HTML.
HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, is the well-known and widely used language for web pages. It is a text-based language written in the form of tags enclosed by angle brackets. The HTML can even describe the whole structure of the web page and even embed other scripting languages making the web page appear more interactive. The HTML is termed to be an application of Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), which is considered to be the most adaptable markup language.
Web design improvement doesn’t stop with HTML, as developers created a more extensive markup language, the XHTML. XHTML, or Extensible Hypertext Markup Language, has the same features with that of the HTML; however, it works with the XML syntax. The XTML is an application of XML, which has limited features compared to SGML. It was in 2002 when XHTML was said to be the next step in the development of the internet.
With the emergence of the CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets, designing of web pages has improved. CSS is a computer language that is used to describe the presentation of well-formed or structured documents used in web designing. HTML and XHTML can be incorporated in this language to improve web designing. As of 2008, the development of CSS is still ongoing as web developers are looking forward for its enhancements and features.
Web designers use these markup languages to deliver creative web pages with enhancements to surfers. As of this day, we enjoy watching and listening to streaming videos and music, or even do business transactions just by browsing these fully-featured web sites.
