The Ease of Web Design Using CSS
CSS is the short form of Cascading Style Sheets. The role of CSS is to control the way the way web page documents are presented. It is often written in HMTL. It is the role of CSS to specify the content as well as the structure of any web page. The specifications of CSS also determine the colour that a web page will have. This creates a demarcation from content and the way it is laid out. CSS styles can be applied to a web page using either internal style sheets or external style sheets. In both of these formats, CSS is made up of selectors which are contained in rule sets.
Linking to an external style sheet involves use of the link tag or importing a style sheet from elsewhere. It is always a very good idea to use a link tag. Some formats of the explorer have problems with formats which have been borrowed. In order to have the real attribute given to files, the link performs a very crucial role. It informs the browser the type of content contained on these files.
The optional media attribute enables the browser to determine how and where every style sheet ought to be used. The default value is always all. The screen command is used for color screens. For handheld devices such as the PDA, the print review takes place with the support of the communication made through CSS commands.
There is usually no problem with using import method with external style sheets. For the link tag, the best place for a web designer to use them is at the top of the web document. External style sheets contain rule sets which in turn are composed of selectors and their values. These values occur in pairs. In CSS commands, no HTML commands ought to be included or else the style sheet will fail to load in the right way.
The internal style sheet closely resembles the external style sheet since the rules are tied together in both of them. The CSS code is the same for both of them. In both, the tag can easily take a different attribute which is often referred to as a media. If the style sheets have to be included within the realm of HTML, then are referred to as inline styles.
The most effective style of using CSS styles on a web page is through external style sheets. This is because it is much more efficient to update and even reduces the amount of band width that is necessary for supporting the functionality of your site. Another reason is that once the file has been loaded after the first visit, the details remain in the cache throughout the site’s information centre.
If you had a website with 100 pages and you feel that their color should be changed, changing only one page will lead to a change to all of them. Once you have uploaded these changes. Internal sheet styles don’t work this way. Even if you were using something like Dream weaver, you will be forced to manually change the color of all the 100 pages.
