DIY Web Design: Choosing Font Size and Typeface for Content
If you have been doing web design research on how to DIY you may have learned that having content on your site that is specific to your site will make it easier for the search engines to find you. This is true. When an internet user punches in certain keywords that are related to your site, your site is more likely to rank higher on the search results if you have keyword rich content on your site.
If you are taking the road of do-it-yourself web design, it is important that you understand many rookie mistakes can be made if you are not fully prepared. If you plan to have text and content on your site, it is important that the words are easily read and understood by all site visitors.
One way to ensure that the content is easily read is to choose the right font size and typeface. You do not want the size of the font to be too small or readers will have to squint to read the content. Your web design choice of typeface should also be thought over before you implement it into your site.
As tempting as it may be to use a funky typeface, you want to make sure that all internet users have that type of typeface installed on their computer. Times and Times New Roman are on most any computer, but some other typefaces may not. Do some simple research to find out what the main typefaces are on most computers these days.
You will also need to keep in mind that the font size can be too large. Font that is too big for the page may be hard for your visitors to follow and may take up a lot of valuable space on any given site page. A good web design is easy to read. Do what is necessary to make sure your site visitors can easily read the font size and typeface you have chosen.
Continue your research about do-it-yourself web design. Your site may not look as professional as it could have been, but you can surely produce a web design to be proud of that is still effective and usable.
