Determining the Page Size for the Website

Deciding how big the pages one wants to have on a site is a challenge like no other. The complication arises mainly because the issue appears like two sides of the same coin. Using smaller pages means there could be less content on the site. It may not also allow the site plenty of flexibility for users who are looking for different services or information.

Conversely, the bigger pages the site has, the more time it is likely to take to load. The web designer is therefore faced with a delicate balancing act of ensuring that while their work is not made nay more complicated, they do not end make site customers lose their interest at the first attempt at opening the site.

One of the tricks is up loading information in such a manner that no matter the number of pages one puts it is always easier to have the site load. The size of pages is not the only factor that will affect how fast or slowly a site loads, there are several others. As a general rule, it is important to have page sizes that are not bigger than fifty kilobytes. Such page size allows the page to load at a very fast rate, which would be a matter of seconds while at the same providing for fairly large amounts of graphics.

Another trick to handling page in web design is to ensure that the content is well spread out. This could be done by dividing the text into several pages so that each page is not only well utilized but also enhances the optimization of space on the site. Although one will face a challenge if they are using the same graphics for one pager, there could be a way out. The browser will have the graphics such as pictures stored in one location in a cache. When downloading the pictures, one only requires one download. Opening a related that shares the same graphics will therefore call for another download of the same pictures.

The better the kind of design one uses, the better position they will be to manage the page size. Familiarity with design software will keep one in good stead. One will know how to play around with the graphics and the kind of file formats that could be used with the kind of browser other factors in mind. If such knowledge is used advantageously, one can comfortably navigate around the page size issue.

Knowing what format in which to store graphic files has a number of advantages. Whatever format one chooses, they must be sure what compression capabilities they have. Even if they allow compression one must be careful; such compression will affect the quality of pictures resulting from the process. Whereas one must strive to reduce the size of graphics with a view to easing the ability of the page, one must be careful not to affect the quality of graphics to the extend that the original intention of having the pictures there is lost.
