Designing Your Real Estate Website – Have You Told Your Story Today?

Do you really know why you have a real estate website?  It may seem like a stupid question, but most realtors do not have have a set purpose that the website needs to achieve.  You need to direct your efforts to reaching specific goals.

So why do you really have a website?  The most common answers in the real estate community are:  getting listings, collecting more leads, make your job easier, increase your sales, or simply give information to your prospects.

Each of these goals are solid and can help you in your career, they are not actually the reason for having your website, rather they are the results of having a quality website.

The true purpose of your website is to tell your story to any person willing to hear it.  This may sound easy, but it really isn’t.  In order for you to do this effectively, you need to translate everything into words or pictures.  You need to be able to answer questions like: what makes your service different?  What are you offering that is unique?  Why should anyone trying to buy or sell their home choose to do business with you and not the competition?

These are not simple questions to answer, which is why most of the time people skip this portion of website design.

You need to make sure people hear your story and understand your process.  Simply saying you the best doesn’t help because everyone says their the best.  You need to really connect with you audience and allow them to really understand who you are and what you will be doing for them on a daily or weekly basis.

This is the real reason that you have a real estate website.  Your unique story is what people want to hear and it allows you to build trust with your prospects before they even contact you for the first time.  Within this story, you should let them know how your services will benefit them.  If you do this effectively, you will get the results that you are looking for whether it be increased leads, more sales, or just another way to enhance your reputation in the community.
