A good web designer should know how to maximize web technologies to build effective websites.

Client side and server side technologies are 2 kinds of web technologies that are used to build effective websites.  When processing is done in a web browser, it is called Client Side.  On the other hand, if processing is done by the web server, t is called Server Side.

CSS tells the web browser how to display the web page to make it visually appealing which is a great technology to build effective websites.  It provides control on how the documents will be aesthetically presented on any medium like a printer, a tv set, a computer screen, or PDA.

Compared to the HTML or XHTML, CSS allows a style sheet, which is a single file, to be used for the whole web site that will require to be downloaded only once and do not take so long to download.  Download times will be better for users which makes it very certain for web designers to build effective websites.  Any website that’s built on CSS does not take too long to download which lessens the possibility of any user clicking away from the site due to long download times.
