Blogs As Websites
The Internet has made it possible for anyone with access to a computer to become a “published writer, instantly share their thoughts on any topic with people all over the planet. Even better, many blogs can be set up and maintained using simple templates -all for free. Blogs cover the widest spectrum of topics. You can write anything from random personal thoughts to well-researched presentations on politics, nature, or any other subject that interests you. If you’re a blogger who aspires to build a strong reputation and a base of faithful readers over the long term, some innate talent for writing is helpful so composing your regular blog entries doesn’t become too laborious and time-consuming. But even if you aren’t a natural writer, you can still become a successful blogger by avoiding common mistakes.
Here are the blunders to avoid so you bloggers don’t get lost in the vast blogoshere :
• Failure to have a guiding point –
Before you sit down to write a blog post, think about the point you want to make, and then write specifically to support it. Blogs should follow the same rules for content as any good website.
• Focusing on a limited audience –
Keep in mind that your readership is worldwide and not exclusive to certain countries only. Thus, be aware of the jargon and terms you’re using in your blog.
• A blog is made for public reading –
Any blog post once published is entirely out of your control. Any blog post can be emailed, recycled, saved, printed, quoted and misquoted, etc.
• Not having a specific theme -
A blog that has a theme to maintain can hold your interest and provide enough new material to allow you to keep your blog fresh and entertaining.
• Posting irregularly –
A blogger must follow a regular schedule in posting new blogs. This is to avoid having your credibility suffers and your readership to drop off.
• Writing excessively –
Readers usually do not have time to read too much descriptive passages. It’s a good point to stick to the main ideas as clearly and concise as possible.
In the end, a blog is still a type of website and bloggers should not lose sight of this. Falsehood writing or making unsubstantiated claims about specific people or entities can lead the blogger to trouble. It is a good rule of thumb, even if what you are writing is just a matter of opinion to stick to the facts.
