The Basics of Web Design Graphics

A lot rest on the way you create your website or your webpage. Aside from the fact that it reflects your skill and creativity as a designer, it also helps promote a business or a cause. A website or a web page needs really good and relevant graphics in order to promote itself to its target market or its niche. A small bakery in Boston looking for a wider audience reach, for example, could use nice graphics or photos in its website. Graphics that compliment the bakery’s image as well as graphics that show off its products would help the bakery get more customers or visitors. If this website of the bakery did not have pictures or graphics, do you think that people would be interested in it?

What graphics do is to give your website’s customer an idea of what kind of business they run or what kind of products you have. While it is true that the Internet has made every kind of information accessible, nothing could replace the fact that consumers would still want some visual that helps them tie a website to the concept that behind the website is a business. Aside from this, consumers need to get an idea of what kind of business it is. Is it a fancy or a luxury place or product? What are the products’ specifications? Does it look pretty?

A lot of these apprehensions and questions could be answered by the graphics you use on your website or your webpage. Note, however, that you still have to practice design principles when using graphics. You must know the number of graphics to use as well as how tastefully you can use them. Overwhelming a customer with too much graphics and design only puts them off and makes them feel suspicious. Aside from this, using too much graphics makes a site slow to load and difficult to download. This would have a reverse effect. Your audience should, as much as possible, have an easy time browsing through your site, especially if it is a site that sells products. Using unnecessary graphics only makes the website difficult to navigate around and use.
