The right web design is an important factor for your website and for your bottom line. The right web design will catch your site user’s eye and hopefully keep it there. If you are getting a lot of hits to your site, but the users aren’t clicking through and buying something, then you have a problem and the problem is probably a poorly designed web site.

Many mistakes are made in the world of web design. One such mistake is having music automatically start playing when the internet user opens your site.

The right web design and website does not generally include background music. Background music is generally annoying to internet users especially if they already have music playing on their computer music player. Your internet user will probably mute your site or just click off of it all together. If you are promoting a band or believe the music to be important, you may want to consider giving your internet users an option of whether to listen to the music or not by offering a button to click and listen.

Not all internet users have fast speed internet. If the internet user has dial up, they are likely to “x” out of your page if it automatically plays music because it will take a while for each page to load.

Having looping music on your page may have seemed like a good idea when y you first implemented it, but, in the long run you will find that the background music can become annoying and can affect your bottom line.

The best rule of thumb for your website design is to offer your site visitors a choice of whether they would like to hear the music or not. Provide a tool on your site to play the music. Unless you are promoting a band, CD, or other sound related item, you will probably find that not many site visitors are going to use the tool.
