5 Businesses That Need Web Presence
December 29, 2008
By Rupesh Narvekar - 123Triad ( Web Design & SEO Company)
The Internet is the new marketplace. Where we used to have brick-and-mortar shops with everything on the shelves, we now have websites-and in place of shelves, we have online stores where you can find anything under the sun. With a well-designed website, even the most obscure businesses can start and thrive on the internet.
Of course, some ideas benefit from the online marketplace more than others. Here are five of them who simply cannot afford to operate without a website:
1. Design services. Whether it’s web, print, or corporate design, a business that thrives on visual imagery needs a way to show the world what it can do. Your website can do double duty-it can serve as your online portfolio and a portal for your clients. A good sampling of your work online can double your business prospects and help your name get around.
2. Consultancy. Many people are putting their personal expertise into good use with online consultancy work. You can make money just by offering your knowledge to people who need it-as long as they’ve got a way to reach you. Build a website that highlights your strengths and gives you solid credibility in the field. Coupled with good marketing, a good site may just be the key to a successful consultancy business.
3. Retail. Anyone who buys retail-anything from clothes to cars-will want to see what they’re buying before closing any deals. That’s why online retail is almost entirely dependent on websites. Retail sites follow most of the same rules as store design: they have to be attractive, simple, and easy to navigate. It’s not just about showing off your wares, but letting people know that you mean business.
4. Tourism. Many travel agencies are transferring most or all of their transactions online. But the challenge here is competition: on the internet, it’s a lot harder to stand out and draw in people. The best advantage you can have is a website with lots of imagery and useful information. All things considered, people will always go for the agency that looks more professional and offers more information.
5. Real estate. If you’re a real estate agent or broker, chances are you already do at least part of your business online. But more and more people are going house-hunting on the internet, and a website lets you get your share of that growing market. A real estate website has to look credible and professional-after all, you’re dealing with people about to make the biggest purchase of their life.
