How Does This Work?

Making the web design process work for you… fast!

By Derek Edwards , 123Triad Web Design

In web design, everyone worries about the “big three” as I like to call them.

  1. Price
  2. Quality Design
  3. Turnaround time

We all know we want reasonable pricing and good quality; that’s a given.  It’s the turnaround time that seems to give people the most trouble.  It’s easy to put off the design of a new website, especially when you don’t fully understand what’s required to make it a reality.  My goal is to help you understand what’s needed so that you’re not one of the frantic callers that I get saying “HELP! I need a new site, yesterday!”

Now, if you want a template website then this article is not for you.  If you want a truly custom and original look and you’ll settle for nothing less for your business then read on.

If there’s one thing that you remember from this article, remember this.  Highlight it, circle it, do whatever you have to do.  Ready?  Here it is:

The advantage to custom web design is that it is a truly collaborative process.
Seems obvious right?  Well, it is, yet many people don’t understand just how important their input is in the design process.

My mother used to tell me when I would watch R-rated movies that when you put garbage in (your head) you get garbage out (your mouth); then she’d stare at me until I turned the channel.  As much as that may have scarred me, she was right, and the same is true for custom web design.

Our company, for example, immediately provides our new clients with a web design questionnaire upon signing up.  It is full of questions about what you (the client) expect from your new site.  We want to know what sites you like, who your competitors are, what colors you want, what layout ideas you have, etc.  You can never be too detailed up front, yet it’s surprising how many people write the bare minimum while some do the unthinkable and skip answering questions all together.

Let’s face it, revisions are part of custom design but no one likes to spend more time than necessary.  When we receive incomplete information, it’s difficult for us to know what the client wants and it can be frustrating if the process takes longer than expected.  At least we guarantee our clients’ satisfaction!  But just like my mother told me: garbage in, garbage out.  Providing clear examples and detailed systematic feedback doesn’t take much time and will lead to a quality website in record time.  And isn’t that what you really want?

Be excited to be in the driver’s seat of your project!  When you work with our company you can feel good knowing that you are in control of the process.  If you haven’t yet reviewed the high quality of the work that 123Triad delivers then I highly recommend you check out our online portfolio of over 700 websites that we have completed at:  http://www.123triad.com/websites.asp.  As always, call or email us with your questions; we’re happy to help.
